Derwentwater Hotel

A Lake District hotel on the market for £7.25 million has had its price reduced by £2 million.

Derwentwater Hotel in Portinscale, near Keswick, was put up for sale in May this year.

It had previously gone out of business during lockdown in 2020 but reopened in the August of that year, following a management agreement with Bespoke Hotels.

The Derwentwater Hotel was one of 11 operated by the Coast & Country Hotels chain, owned by Specialist Leisure Group Limited, which went into administration along with its subsidiaries during lockdown.

These included Shearings Holidays, which used the Derwentwater Hotel as a base for coachloads of tourists.

Christie & Co is selling the 66-bed hotel, which it said was ‘suitable for redevelopment’ and has reduced the price to £5.25 million.

The three-star hotel was originally built in the 1900s. The main hotel building is of traditional stone.

The property has three storeys with a two-storey side extension for staff accommodation.

Opposite the hotel is the Derwent Manor building which is a large detached stone built building with hipped and pitched slate roof. Along with a terrace of four self contained holiday flats and a further stand-alone cottage.
