Emergency services were called out after a person was reported missing in the Whitehaven area.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, St Bees RNLI and police began searching the shoreline yesterday morning.
Teams were deployed to search on foot and by 4×4 and the Coastguard helicopter was called to cover less visible areas from the air.
A short time into the search the missing person was found safe and well by police within one of the search areas, Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said.
