Kendal Rugby Union Club have signed strong-running centre Naki Saumaki, well known in county rugby league circles.
Saumaki, 26, is the nephew of former New Zealand RL international Fui Fui Moimoi and has been playing in the National Conference League for Millom.
Indeed last month Naki and his cousin Hosea were joined in the team by Moimoi who was visiting Cumbria to attend a wedding.
Naki was brought up in Tonga but moved to New Zealand nine years ago and in his first year there made the Tasman Makos U19 team.
He has played for Division One team the Wanderers in Nelson in the South Island.
He has also represented New Zealand Universities Rugby League before coming to England where he moved to Kirkby Lonsdale to be near his girlfriend.
Cousin Hosea, who started to play for Millom later in the season, had been playing for Leicester Tigers.
The pair have helped Millom reach the play-offs in the Third Division of the National Conference.
Saumaki will make his Kendal debut on Saturday in the first game of the new Regional 1 North West season.
