Carlisle’s bid to retain the Cumbria League’s Premier Division title was forced to go to the last week of the season.
Workington kept Furness interested when they went to Edenside and won another thriller by ten runs.
The two sides had been involved in a gripping contest at the Valentine Ground earlier in the season which the champions won by two wickets.
Carlisle go to Keswick on Saturday still with a nine-point lead over Furness, who actually won at Fitz Park yesterday.
In essence Carlisle can still lose at Keswick but as long as they picked up two or more points would be crowned champions, even if Furness win their final game at Wigton.
Workington batted first at Edenside and struggled against some accurate bowling with Dave Pearce (22) and Jake Daniel (21) doing best until, at 106-8 Regan Jackson made 21 not out which boosted the visitors to 142.

The wickets were shared between Michael Slack (3-19), Fraser Conn (2-18), Chris Blythe (2-21) and Nico Watt (2-27).
Carlisle found the going just as hard and regularly lost wickets to find themselves 79-7 and apparently out of it. Jon Davidson (30) and Conn (31no) got them moving again but they were still ten runs short when the overs ran out at 132-9.
Workington bowled superbly with Kris Moffat (2-28) and Jackson (3-34) returning the best figures.
Furness kept themselves in contention when they travelled to Keswick and recorded a win by 39 runs after deciding to bat first.
Professional Yash Dubey (60), Samson Storey (31no) and Nathan Waterston (24) were the main scorers as they made 198-8 in their 50 overs.
Paul Hindmarch (3-49) and Scott McGown (2-37) were the leading wicket-takers for Keswick.

Professional Risith Upamal (30) top-scored in Keswick’s reply when there was support from tail-ender McGown (26) and opener Will Atkinson (21) but they were bowled-out for 159 in 46 overs.
Faizan Ghumman took (4-22) for Furness with Dubey (2-26) and Garry Thompson (2-31) both chipping-in.
The other key game in the Premier Division featured the two bottom sides Lindal Moor and Haverigg, separated by only a point at start of play.
In the end Haverigg moved away from the foot of the table with a tight three-wicket win and going into the last game they have a four point advantage over Lindal who were promoted last year.
Haverigg finish off at home to Cleator while Lindal visit Egremont next Saturday, the final day of the season.
Visitors Haverigg won the toss and chose to field which looked a sound decision as they bowled-out their hosts for 107 in 28.4 overs.
Aseen Wadhwa (33) and Callum McDougall (20) did the bulk of the scoring as they lost their last six wickets for the addition of only seven runs.
Sub pro Safyaan Sharif took 6-18 from 8.4 overs and then proceeded to steer Haverigg to that vital win on 108-7 with an unbeaten 51 after they had been 12-3. Wadhwa took 2-23 from his ten overs.
Sharif spent a season at Whitehaven a few years ago and is a current Scotland international.
Cockermouth are back in fourth spot after they lost by 32 runs at Millom where the home side were revived by their tail-enders.
They were 93-7 and then 103-8 but finished up 192 all out with notable efforts from the last three of Robbie Wilson (34), Oliver Thompson (33no) and Ben High (23). Cockermouth pro Sameera Sadamal took 3-21 from his ten overs.
Cockermouth’s inability to finish off the Millom tail cost them as they could only manage 158 all out in reply.
Skipper Matty Sempill (44) and Sadamal (24) were the main contributors for Cockermouth as Luke Ivison took 5-43 for Millom.

Wigton have enjoyed a fine second half of the season and they were successful again with a six wicket win at Cleator.
The home side had reached 163-9 in their 50 overs led by Doug Hughes (42), Tom Sharpe (24), Darren Clark (22) and Steven Lee (20). John Reed took 3-20 for Wigton with Cameron McGuinness having 2-28.
Wigton pro Chris Hodgson (50), Matthew Hodgson (31) and Matthew Reed (25no) played their part in getting the visitors over the line on 164-4 after 34.4 overs.
The other game was a Copeland derby in which Whitehaven won by 82 runs at Egremont.
It was quite a game for Whitehaven opener Stephen Holliday who hit 133 off only 116 deliveries, hitting 18 fours and a couple of sixes.
Other solid contributions from professional Terance Warde (29), Kian Larmour (26) and Josh Foster (22) lifted them to 273-8 in their 50 overs. Coady Scott took 3-49 for Egremont.
Mark Ponticelli (40) and Ollie Willford (26) gave Egremont a solid start before sub pro Ateeq Javid fired 60 (11 fours) and carried them to 192 when he was the last man out. Lewis Keeler took 5-31 for Whitehaven.
