Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam after a car failed to stop for officers.

Officers attempted to stop the silver-coloured Ford Mondeo estate car at around 1.05pm yesterday, September 12, in the area of Junction 44 on the M6.

The vehicle then entered Carlisle city centre at high speed, narrowly avoiding other vehicles, police said and as a result of dangerous driving, officers stopped the pursuit for safety reasons.

The car was later found abandoned on Kershope Road in the Lowry Hill area of Carlisle.

It is reported three men were seen running from the vehicle in the direction of Kingmoor Junior School and the driver was described as wearing a full grey tracksuit.

Officers said they were keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle failing to stop for police and driving dangerously.

Officers are also appealing for anyone with dashcam of the incident and are asking residents living in the area of Kershope Road or Lowry Hill with video doorbells or CCTV to check their footage for anyone caught running from the general area of Kershope Road at around 1.10pm.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can also report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit, quoting incident number 98 of the 12 September 2023 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
