Kendal Town slipped to another defeat when they lost 4-2 at home to Colne last night.
They now sit second in the North West Counties Leaue table behind Bury who were 4-2 home winners against Litherland.
Manager Jimmy Marshall said: “The first half was very poor and not up to standard. We had spoken about things beforehand and we just seemed to do the exact opposite.
“On the other hand I was pleased with the reaction in the second-half after making three changes. It does seem a bit harsh on lads when there were a few changes I could have made but essentially we changed the shape, and I thought it worked.
“There were three things for me in the second half. After getting back level with two goals we let them back in front within seconds, which is criminal.
“I thought there was nothing wrong with a goal by Matt Flynn and I couldn’t understand the sending off for a high boot when their player had his head down in an unnatural low position.
“We got such a great start to the season it seems as though we have taken our foot off the gas. But where things were going for us then and goals were flowing, now we are missing the chances or keepers are making good saves.”
Colne had been the dominant side in the first-half and went ahead on 13 minutes with a debut goal from Jakub Hebda.
The second followed six minutes later when Rob Edwards was able to double the Colne lead.
It was still 2-0 to the visitors when Bailey was harshly sent-off on 62 minutes but seven minutes later the Mintcakes were level. Martin Grundy was forward to steer home a low cross.
Four minutes later Kendal were level and Brandon Croskell Robinson, one of the three subs brought on at half-time, scored the equaliser.
But when Colne went straight back on the attack their substitute James Thewlis produced a composed finish to restore their lead.
In the second of 11 extra minutes at the end Charles Wood finished-off a cross to clinch the win for Colne.
