Cumbria’s two representatives at the European Cricket Championship in Spain have helped England make a winning start to the competition.
They opened with a tense four-wicket win over Malta and then followed up with a remarkable eight-wicket win over Cyprus.
Both Cumbrian players took 2-3 against Cyprus who were bundled out for just 34 in 8.4 overs. Matthew Siddall bowled 1.4 overs and Freddie Fallows had just one.
Remarkably England reached 35.2 off just 1.5 overs but Fallows only managed one run.
Malta did considerably better, reaching 137-5 in their 10 overs with Basil George hitting 86 off only 33 deliveries.
Siddall bowled just the one over and had the best economy rate, without taking a wicket, by conceding just eight runs.

England had to go to the last over and had three balls to spare when they got to 141-6 with Tom Bevan 68 not out. Fallows only managed one.
The England team is made-up of players from the NCCA.
