Whitehaven Rugby League have announced their latest signing in Jake Carter, who has agreed a 12-month deal with the club.
Carter is among the players who are preparing for Kyle Amor’s testimonial on Friday when Cumbria take on Wales at Whitehaven.
Ball-playing half-back Carter initially joined Haven on a trial earlier in the campaign and made 12 appearances in the Championship scoring two tries after forming a fine partnership alongside Jamie Doran.
After Cumbria’s training session ahead of the Amor testimonial game Carter said: “I really enjoyed the year when I came in.
“It’s been a tough year both on and off the field for the club but the way the lads have stuck together has been great.
“Staying in the Championship is massively positive, I’ve loved it and I can’t wait to have a full go at it next year.”
Speaking about representing Cumbria on Friday evening Carter added: “I was lucky enough to have a decent game against Jamaica and it was one of the proudest moments of my career and I’m wanting to do it again in front of the Whitehaven crowd.
“It’s good to get everyone together, there’s no egos as everyone is proud to be Cumbrian and I’m sure we will put on a good performance.”
