Windscale were involved in yet another high scoring Wearside League fixture with the teams sharing eight goals.
Hosting Durham Corinthians the Atoms took the lead as early as the 5th minute, following some good approach work.
A shot from Ross Leeson was blocked initially with the ball falling to Reece Fretwell who hammered it beyond Corinthians keeper, Harry Renwick.
There then followed a crazy 25 minute spell from Windscale when they conceded four goals.
Corinthians responded within a minute of the Atoms opening goal with the first of a hat trick of goals from Josh Clark.
Within 30 minutes of the kick-off, the Atoms were trailing 4-1 with Clark completing his hat trick and Daniel McGuire contributing the other goal.
Windscale did manage to reduce the arrears prior to the half-time whistle. Matty Pierce won the ball high up the pitch and found Will Rooke who slotted home.
The Atoms trooped discontentedly back to the change rooms at the end of the first period trailing 4-2.
Whatever was said during the interval certainly resonated with the hosts.
Windscale started to dictate play with their Man of the Match, Rooke, coming to the fore.
With an hour of play gone, Rooke fired in an unstoppable effort from a free kick into the top corner to bring the Atoms within a goal of the visitors.
Despite all the Windscale pressure, it looked as though Corinthians would hang on to take the honours.
Parity was achieved in the fifth minute of added time when what looked a dubious penalty was awarded to the Atoms.
It was Rooke again who stepped up to convert the kick, completing his hat trick and giving the hosts a share of the spoils.
Windscale are back in mid-week action again on Wednesday. They are hosts to Shotton Colliery at the Falcon Complex with a 7-45 kick-off.
