
Wigton Harriers travelled to Maryport Athletic on Saturday in the Cumberland County League Premier but went home disappointed.
Athletic took all three points from a 3-0 victory with goals coming from Darren Rule (2) and Riley Short.
Meanwhile also in the Premier Division, Gosforth best Workington AFC Reserves 2-1 with Rhys Singleton and Reece Fretwell netting goals for Gosforth. Reds goal scorer was Cain Pears.
In Division One, Joe Martin (2), Lewis Keeler, Paul Wright, Luke Blaney, Ross Dawson and Jenson Irving were all on target for Whitehaven AFC Reserves as they won 7-1 at Silloth. The hosts’ single goal came from Gareth Lewis.
Elsewhere in Division One, the weather played a big part. Keswick we’re 2-0 up against Bransty Rangers thanks to a double from Declan Robinson when the referee abandoned the game midway through the second half.
The Cockermouth and Mirehouse game was also abandoned due to an unplayable pitch with the referee bringing things to an end in the opening five minutes of the game.
Windscale Reserves v Dearham United was postponed.
