Workington earned a sixth successive draw against one of the NPL big boys, Macclesfield, in what was a rare 0-0 stalemate at Borough Park.
It’s a club record – passing the five that were played in the 1953-54 season in the old Third Division North – and is two short of the current Football League record held by several different clubs.
Not that Danny Grainger’s thoughts were on this sort of record, but more on how they could have won it with both sides having opportunities to claim the three points.
Both sides hit the woodwork, the two keepers made important stops but Workington probably missed the best chance of the game to win it.
Dannen Francis got in late at the far post and looked a certain scorer but somehow stabbed his shot just wide of the other upright.
Dav Symington was also played in by a clever ball from Scott Allison but saw his shot blocked by the feet of Macclesfield keeper Dylan Berry.
At the other end Jim Atkinson made a couple of outstanding saves, the best to turn an effort from Luke Duffy onto the post.

Without a goal it was still an entertaining contest, enjoyed by the second-best crowd of the season 903 with both teams producing good football when they had turns in the ascendency.
The Silkmen were clearly intent on making amends for 4-3 home defeat on Saturday and started at a frantic pace but gradually Reds came into it and from the ten minute mark it was an even contest.

Jordan Little, who has decided he wants to stay and play his football at Workington, had another solid game at the back and has quickly struck up a good understanding with Niall Brookwell
Brad Hubbold, who gets married today, was the sponsors man of the match, while Brookwell and Atkinson will have run him close.
Unfortunately it was a night for more injuries which Reds can ill afford as skipper Conor Tinnion went off after the first quarter of the game and Finn Wallbank limped off in the second-half.

Both will be doubtful for Saturday when Ilkeston visit Borough Park but Reds will have Steven Rigg available again after suspension while a player highly rated by the Workington manager is expected to have completed his registration to be at training on Thursday and in the squad at the week-end.
Centre of attraction at half-time was the England Lioness Ella Toone, who was visiting Borough Park for the second time to support boyfriend Joe Bunney. She posed for numerous photos with members of Reds junior teams.
