Promotions for Cumberland FA referees

Three more referees have earned mid-season promotions within Cumberland FA.

John Dixon has moved from Level 7 to 6 while Tony Whitfield and Craig Bennison have been raised to 3W from 4W.

Scott Taylor, Cumberland FA referee development officer, said: “Our New Year mid-season promotions honour the hard work and commitment shown by Cumberland referees at grassroots level. It is our way of rewarding their on-field refereeing performances over the past few months.

“I am extremely happy for them all as all three of them have put a lot of effort into gaining promotion mid-season, as the FA criteria states they must referee a set minimum number of games and undertake various online CPD courses. They must also pass an online FA Laws of the Game exam appropriate for their level.

“The two 4W to 3W candidates were observed three times each on local ladies’ games and their promotions now mean these refs could operate at Women’s National League level, which means they could soon receive appointments direct from The FA for games out of the County FA.

“We wish them and all our Cumberland FA registered referees a healthy and successful 2024.”
