Carlisle United have signed 19-year-old Crystal Palace defender Sean Grehan on loan until the end of the season.
The highly rated Irish centre back started his career with Bohemians in the Republic before being invited for a trial at Selhurst Park in 2022.
He impressed during his time in South London and signed a two-year contract ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, going on to feature heavily for the club’s under-21 side in Premier League 2.
Grehan made 36 appearances for the Eagles during his debut campaign in England and his fine form was rewarded with a call-up to the Republic of Ireland under-19 side.
This season saw the 19-year-old named on Palace’s first-team bench for their Carabao Cup tie at Plymouth Argyle before signing a new long-term contract with the Premier League side.
Grehan’s 17 appearances and two goals for his club this term in the under-21 side have also been added to by a first cap for his nation’s under-21 team.
He has been training regularly with the first team squad under Roy Hodgson and will be catching-up on all the lowdown on life at Brunton Park from striker Luke Plange who has just returned to Palace after a loan spell with Carlisle.
