Police patrols stepped up after series of Carlisle overnight burglaries

Police are investigating a series of burglaries in Carlisle that occurred overnight.

On the evening of Monday January 8 and in the early hours of yesterday, officers received reports of burglaries at properties and two takeaways in the area of Scotland Road and Rigg Street.

Entry has been forced to the properties and businesses with cash having been taken during one of the incidents.

The incident on Scotland Road occurred between 4pm and 7pm and the incident on Rigg Street reported at around 1am.

Detective are appealing for residents in the areas who may have any CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage, to contact police.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Police would like to remind residents to be vigilant and ensure when they leave their houses to lock all doors and windows, install CCTV or video doorbells if possible and leave lights on where they can.

Patrols are being increased in the area to deter offenders and help prevent further burglaries, Cumbria police said.
