Maryport were very proud to win the accolade Youth Club of the Year last season – but are focused on even stepping up a level.
The award was from the West Cumbria Youth League and club coach Simon Pattinson sees they will be working even harder to retain the award.
“We have every age group now at the club from Under-6s through to Under-18s and training for the new season starts on Monday, January 29.
“That will be for the young ones on our own artificial pitch at the club – 6pm-7pm for Under-6s, 7s, 8s and 9s.
“We were very proud as a club to win that accolade last season and we intend to work even harder this coming year. We are going back into the schools to do some coaching workshops and we will be holding our annual youth festival.
“Our mini-marras programme has been particularly successful which is something we will be building on this year.
“We have some good talented youngsters so we will continue to work hard to make sure everyone enjoys coming to the Maryport club and particularly enjoys playing rugby league together.
“I have to say that we had some fantastic sponsorship to make the club successful in what we are trying to do with the youth and we all can’t wait to get going again.”
