Former Barrow striker Billy Waters is on the move again, joining Doncaster Rovers on loan from Wrexham.
Waters only moved to the Welsh club in March from Holker Street but has rarely figured.
He made just one appearance for the Red Dragons in the National Conference at the tail end of 2022-23 and has featured just seven times this time in League Two following their promotion.
Waters, 29, is contracted to Wrexham until the end of next season but has gone on loan to Doncaster for the rest of the current campaign.
A product of the Crewe Alexandra youth academy, Waters first sprang to prominence with Cheltenham Town in 2015 when he bagged 11 goals which helped fire them Robins to promotion into the Football League.
He did even better in League Two the following season with 16 goals when he was named the club’s Player of the Year.
He moved onto Northampton Town where he spent three seasons, before having spells with Torquay, Halifax and then Barrow.
Waters first linked-up with Pete Wild at Halifax, scoring 21 times in the 2021-22 season and he then followed him to Holker Street where he scored nine goals in 32 games for Barrow in League Two last season.
Doncaster manager Grant McCann told the club website: “Billy is a goalscorer and he has been over the years at different clubs.
“We feel it’s a great signing for us. He’s really hungry to come in, play games and score goals. He’s sharp in his movements, wants to get in-behind and between the posts.
“He’s had experience of this level and scored goals. It’s a good signing for us.”
Rovers have also brought in defender Jay McGrath this month from League of Ireland side St. Patrick’s Athletic, alongside loanees Conor Carty and Matthew Craig from Bolton and Spurs respectively.
