In-form FC Cosmos cruised into the final of the West Cumberland Sunday League’s President’s Cup with a 9-1 win over FC Butcher’s.
The Egremont side were following-up last week’s 3-0 win over Premier Division leaders Parkside and they comfortably swept aside resistance from the Division One side.
It was one of only three games which survived the rain and wind as the programme was hit for a second successive week.
Dan Hill led the way with a hat-trick and he was joined on the score-sheet by Lewis Park (2), Rhys Singleton (2) and Paul McNally while Butchers didn’t help their cause by conceding an own goal.
Callum Foy scored the Maryport side’s consolation goal as they were second-best to a rampant Cosmos.
The other semi-final between Northside and Parkside was one of the games that were postponed.
In complete contrast to the President’s Cup semi-final the Three Tier League Cup tie between Seaton Rangers and Salterbeck was decided by a single goal. Ewan Robinson struck the winner for Salterbeck.
The only other game played was in Division One in which the King’s Arms beat Swan 6-0 with goals from Coady Scott (2), Jack Fitzpatrick, Bobby Fitzpatrick, Kian Hoey and Danny Shaw.
The League will be hoping to fit in more fixtures next Sunday, fingers crossed firmly that the weather relents.
The games scheduled are as follows:
- President’s Cup semi-final – Northside v Parkside.
- Albert Murphy Trophy quarter-finals – Salterbeck v Deer Orchard; Dearham v Sun Inn.
- Kenny Hailes Trophy semi-final – Royal Oak v Thornhill.
- Tier One League Cup – Moresby v Lowca.
- Premier Division – FC Cosmos v Bluebell.
- Division One – Seaton v Flimby; The Sun v King’s Arms; FC Butcher’s v Senhouse Street.
