Dion Aiye, the captain of Whitehaven Rugby League Club, has appeared in court and admitted assault and harassment charges.
The charges relate to an incident involving a woman in Barrow on February 28 2021.
The harassment, involving the same woman, took place between March 1 and July 5 2021.
Aiye, 35, of Richmond Terrace, Whitehaven, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Friday, February 9.
He will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on March 14.
He was granted unconditional bail.
