The Dearham kennel of Joseph Abram and Nicola McMaster enjoyed great success in 2023 and they have made a great start in the March trials.
Last night saw a return to Cardurnock for the second trial trail and all three races were won by Dearham hounds.
All trails were well supported and the opening puppy race had 27 taking part. As they came onto the finish there were three hounds clear with none of the others in sight.
Thornton, owned by Darren McMaster, Anthony Skelton and Sadie Wilson just got up by a couple of yards to beat George McGimpsey and Gillian and Millie Telford’s Millie’s Lass with Martin, Molly, Teddy Burrow and Sarah Jackson’s Thorn Soul taking third place.
The senior hounds were next to slip and as they came into sight on the finish there were four hounds clear of the rest of the runners.
It was Silver Dream who put in the best burst to the line to win by half a length for Darren and Julie McMaster and Anthony Skelton, followed closely in second place by Tom, Sarah and Ryan Bell’s Ron and then Anna and Kerry Lindsay’s Inspect.
Last to slip was the All-In race and again as they showed two hounds had managed to get clear and it was last year’s puppy champion Rodney Raider for Nicola McMaster and David Todhunter that crossed the line first, a length or so up on the second hound which was Joseph Abraham and Sadie Wilson’s Maverick. Anna and Kerry Lindsay’s Explore finished in third place.
