Workington Speedway have confirmed that the final rider signed for the 2024 Championship season will be 37-year-old Dane, Claus Vissing.

Claus, who rode for the Comets previously at Derwent Park in 2017, returns to Workington seven years later and links up with his 2017 Workington teammate as well as former Glasgow teammate – Craig Cook.

In 2023 Claus rode for Glasgow in their Championship League winning season, however, injury meant that he couldn’t actually compete in the Grand Final fixtures.

However, he is now fit and race-ready for this season with the GT Tyres Comets after the promotion were able to secure the 37-year-old Dane for 2024.

Comets promoter, Andrew Bain is delighted to have Vissing on board for 2024.

He said: “We got there in the end. We’re thrilled that Claus has signed, he’s a real talent on a bike and he never gives up. He can not only ride the big tracks he can ride the trickier ones like Edinburgh and Plymouth, which is key.”

“We had to take our time to secure Claus as initially it seemed his schedule may not have worked out, but we got our man eventually and Claus sees the exciting things happening here at Workington.”

“Claus, alongside Cookie [Craig Cook] and Batch [Troy Batchelor] adds a wealth of experience to our side. With a team that has four newcomers to Championship speedway in it, his experience will be vital this season.”

Vissing completes the Comets line-up with a 6.24 average.
