Kendal Town will go into their final game of the regular season on Saturday at Burscough looking for a fifth successive victory.
That win could be good enough to take them into the play-offs, but they should know ahead of kick-off what is required.
Manager Jimmy Marshall said: “Our 4-1 win over Cheadle means we can just sit back and rest-up for Saturday and by Thursday night will know what we need to do after our rivals have played in mid-week.
“I thought we weren’t at our best against a Cheadle side who had nothing to play for but still made it difficult for us.
“We weren’t at our best, but at this stage of the season, it isn’t about performances but results and we did that by scoring four very good goals in the second-half.
“That’s what we have at the club lads who can score goals and make a difference. I like us to play on the front foot, but be solid at the back, and we have scored over 100 goals which is testament to the quality in the side.”
Padiham, who are five points behind the Mintcakes, have two games in mid-week at title-chasing Bury on Tuesday and at Ramsbottom on Thursday. They finish on Saturday at Lower Breck.
Prestwich Heys entertain Charnock Richard on Thursday night. They are two points behind Kendal and this is their game in hand. Their final match is at Pilkington.
Chadderton, who are two points behind the Cumbrians, complete their fixtures on Saturday at home to West Didsbury and Chorlton.
As things stand it looks as though Kendal and Prestwich Heys are favourites to occupy the final two play-off places.
Steve Yawson (2), Matt Dudley and James Bailey scored the Kendal goal against Cheadle and you can see them here.
