Cumbria Freemasons have hosted the first Masonic Fishing Charity event this year.
The event was held at Lupton Tarn, near Kendal and welcomed children from Sandgate School in Kendal and Sandside Lodge, near Ulverston.
Fishing allows children with additional needs to meet new challenges, provide a stimulating fishing experience, and achieve tangible results to take away.
The charity is part of Cumbria Freemasons and is completely run by volunteers. It is a non-profit making enterprise and is organised and hosted by Freemasons.
Neil Dixon, of Cumbria Freemasons said: “The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people and children with additional needs
“We want to help others, who would not usually have the opportunity, and to share and benefit from the pleasure that fishing in natural surroundings can bring.

“Charity is an integral part of the core principles of Freemasonry and the fishing events that we organise are part of our personal commitment to working in the community.”
He added: “We had the pleasure of welcoming pupils, helping them enjoy fishing and experiencing the outdoor experience, in a safe setting, with the weather being extremely kind.”
