There was a depressingly familiar start to the season for Cumbria when they were rained off at the weekend against Northumberland.

The opening two games in the NCC T20 Cup went the same way as last year with each team being awarded one point.

Hoping for better weather Cumbria travel to Toft on Sunday to play Cheshire and to finally start their 2024 season.

There is one addition to the squad which was named to play against Northumberland last week with the young Kendal pro Evan Williams coming in for Ben Barrow of Netherfield.

The team travelling on Sunday is: Michael Slack (Carlisle, capt), Sam Dutton (Kendal), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Steven Croft (Lancashire CCC), Harry Singh (Lancashire CCC), Matthew Sempill (Cockermouth), Evan Williams (Kendal), Finlay Richardson (Kendal), Ed Moulton (Chorley), Nico Watt (Carlisle), Sam Sharp (Kendal).

The two T20 matches are scheduled to start at 11am and 2.30pm.

The County play their final two T20 matches in the Group stage of the NCCA Twenty-20 Cup the following day on Bank Holiday Monday against Staffordshire at Carlisle.
