Accrington Stanley have signed the former Carlisle United goalkeeper Michael Kelly on a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old had spells in his native Ireland with Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and Bray Wanderers before joining Carlisle in 2022.
He was a member of Paul Simpson’s promotion-winning squad without making a league appearance, although he did feature in other competitions.
Kelly was released and joined MK Dons where he made 15 league appearances as they made the play-offs after finishing fourth in League Two – before missing out on promotion.
He told the Accrington club website: “I am delighted to get it done. I was part of the Milton Keynes Dons squad up here last year so I could see how good the fans are and how good the club is.
“John Doolan and Ged Brannan are putting together what looks like a good squad, and I think hopefully we can be up the right end of the table.
“There are really good people around the club and you can see that from the moment you walk in the building, so I’m just looking forward to it.”
Manager Mike Williamson said: “Michael’s played for MK Dons, who are a good side. If you play for them, you’ve got to be able to use your feet. Andy Dibble’s done a lot of work on the keepers so he brought Michael to us.
“He is one of ours now, so we’re pleased that we’ve got Michael over the line and we’re looking forward to working with him.
“Michael’s experience is great for the younger lads and he’ll be good in the dressing room, that’s for sure.”
