Ipswich overcame their injury problems to defeat Leicester in the Premiership KO Cup and set up a semi-final clash Birmingham.
It meant victory for Ipswich guest Troy Batchelor over his Workington team-mate Craig Cook, now a Leicester signing.
However, when it came to the head-to-head in heat nine it was Cook who came out on top, taking third with the Australian behind and out of the points.
Batchelor, riding at number four, had actually started with three last places but finished-off with a third and a second for three points.
Cook was at reserve for the Lions and he did rather better after a first race fall and exclusion. He went on to collect two seconds and a third for five and a bonus point.
However, they were both outshone by former Workington rider Richard Lawson riding at two for the Lions and top-scoring with 12 points from his five rides, which included three wins.
The Witches, who had won by six points in the away leg on Easter Monday, took a 47-43 victory at Foxhall for a ten-point aggregate success.
They were without injured trio Jason Doyle, Danny King and Adam Ellis – but guest Scott Nicholls delivered a vintage performance with superb 17-point show from six rides, with Emil Sayfutdinov picking up 13 from five.
The Lions were limited to four race wins, three of them coming from Lawson.
