Connor Bailey to return for Workington Comets

Connor Bailey, Workington Comets’ number one from their relaunch season at Northside in 2023, will be back in the team.

Bailey has been booked to guest for the injured Tate Zischke in this weekend’s League One meeting against the Plymouth Gladiators.

The Australian rides in the Championship for the Redcar Bears who are due in action tonight at home to Edinburgh Monarchs, and he is also in the Premiership with Belle Vue Aces.

A popular rider in his season at Northside, Bailey has previously guested for the Comets this season and was an obvious choice once Zischke had been ruled out.

The teenage Australian is recovering from a heavy knock he took in a Polish Under-24s League meeting which left him with a very sore and tender back. He was advised to get plenty of rest.

Workington have already ridden away at Plymouth when they scored a 47-43 victory so are well placed to collect the vital aggregate point.

The Comets currently sit third in the table behind Scunthorpe and Poole and a win against the Gladiators tomorrow, Saturday, June 15, would take them back to the top of the table – although they have ridden more meetings than their rivals.
