Bury FC have signed a fourth former Workington player in what is becoming a Reds reunion club.

Brad Carroll is the latest to join the Gigg Lane side where he will join former team-mates Ruben Jerome and Iyrwah Gooden, as well as namesake Bobby Carroll.

Jerome, Gooden and Brad Carroll played together in Chris Wilcock’s side which finished NPL West runners-up in 2021-22.

The two Carrolls never played together in the Workington side with Bobby joining the West Cumbrians as Brad signed for Lancaster two years ago.

Now, after two years with their respective clubs, they have both signed for North West Counties Premier Division club Bury who lost out in the play-offs last season.

Jerome and Gooden both signed for Bury after helping Emley to the Eastern Counties championship and promotion to the NPL East Division.

The 27-year-old Brad Carroll made 37 appearances last season for Lancaster and he also counts Barrow, Kendal and Clitheroe as his former clubs.

The Bury manager Dave McNabb said: “Brad is a solid and aggressive centre midfielder who will give us bite and legs in the middle of the pitch.

“He has quality in possession, will help the team build and then sustain attacking possession. He’s quick to press and recover the ball on any turnovers.

“Brad is a very experienced non-league player who’s always communicating and organising. He’s a real leader and a winner on and off the pitch.”
