Fin Wallbank joins Workington Reds rivals

Finn Wallbank (Ben Challis)

Finn Wallbank, who spent last season with Workington, has joined one of Reds rivals for the 2024/25 season.

The 19-year-old defender has signed for Bamber Bridge and is the fifth pre-season signing announced by manager Jamie Milligan.

Wallbank was given the chance to stay at Borough Park but opted to try and find a club closer to his Preston home.

Wallbank, in fact, spent six years at Preston North End, including being a key part of the team which reached the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup, and when he was released was signed by former manager Danny Grainger for the Reds.

At Workington he made 25 starts plus another 16 as substitute, mainly at right back, although he did deputise in the middle of the defence as Grainger was forced to use a variety of partnerships in that role.

Wallbank left Workington along with two other travelling men – Lewis Reilly, who has signed for Bootle, and Bobby Carroll who has joined Bury FC. Reds have also lost goalkeeper Jim Atkinson who has joined Gretna.
