A charity providing support for unpaid carers in South Lakes is getting into top gear thanks to a Volkswagen dealership.
Hadwins in Lindale, near Grange-over-Sands, has provided the team at Carer Support South Lakes with a VW Polo complete with livery to promote the work of the charity.
The graphics for the car wrap have been donated by Simon Orr of Signworks.
Managing director of Hadwins Volkswagen Roy Allen said: “We are delighted to be able to help this local charity, which is one many of us will require the support of at some time in our lives.”
Chair of Carer Support South Lakes, James Alexander said: “Providing this vehicle for our charity will make a big difference, this is such a generous donation. We provide a professional service to local people, and having a vehicle like this, which people will instantly identify as Carer Support South Lakes improves our visibility as well as access to our clients.”
CEO of Carer Support South Lakes, Debi Marsden said: “It is a fabulous gesture and such a kind offer. It will have a huge impact on the work that we do for unpaid carers in South Lakeland.
“We cover a large area in South Lakes, and having a car for our team to use, makes it easier for use to reach more carers.”
Carer Support South Lakes is a local, independent charity that provides support to unpaid carers – people who, without payment, provides help and support to a relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help.
There are more than 56,000 unpaid carers in Cumbria, with an estimated 12,500 of these living in the South Lakes area, including adult carers up to the age of 100-plus, parent carers and young carers – the youngest is five years old.
Carer Support South Lakes provide a range of services to enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland.
Hadwins VW has provided the car for 12 months, and Carer Support South Lakes is covering the road tax and insurance.
