Cumbria go in search of their first win in the Durant Cricket Championship this Sunday when they host Hertfordshire at Netherfield.
A squad of 12 has been announced but they will have to go into the game without the majority of their Kendal players as they have their Lancashire Knock Out semi-final on and if they win there will also be a clash with the rearranged T20 finals day in Chester in September.
Its been a frustrating start to the Championship for Cumbria as there is a very good case for saying they would have won the opener against Northumberland had the final day not been washed out.
More obvious was the view they should have won the second game against Cambridgeshire when they could knock off a modest total of 87 for victory.
Cumbria, of course, have been unfortunate to lose the all round talent of skipper Michael Slack who has been sidelined for a substantial part of the season with a damaged knee which needed surgery.
Cockermouth’s skipper Matthew Sempill continues to lead the county in his absence and will have two Netherfield players in the side for the game on their own ground – the first there since 2019.
The 12 named are: Matthew Sempill (Cockermouth, capt), Josh Brown (Cockermouth), Ali Craig (Penrith, wk), Ben Davidson (Carlisle), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Will Fraine (York), Reece Irving (Netherfield), Ed Moulton (Chorley), Oliver Spedding (Carlisle), Ben Walkden (Newton-le-Willows), Nico Watt (Carlisle), Josh Wills (Netherfield).
As with the previous match against Cambridgeshire the match will be live streamed on the club’s Youtube channel.
The match is scheduled to start 11am on Sunday and to continue on Monday and Tuesday.
