Cash-strapped Whitehaven are receiving help from various sources following an appeal earlier in the week.
Sunday’s opponents, Bradford Bulls were first in to help and have organised a bucket collection at Odsal with all proceeds going to the West Cumbrian club.
Jonty Gorley’s men still have to travel to Wakefield for a Championship fixture and the League leaders are said to be prepared to pay for the Whitehaven bus.
Cloud Competitions have done their bit by sponsoring 150 free entry tickets for the community ahead of the next home game against Doncaster on Sunday, August 18.
The Whitehaven club will be announcing how these free entry tickets will be distributed.
Wakefield Trinity Support Group, who go by the name Wildcats Army, have now confirmed that they will pay for the Haven players’ bus to travel there for the forthcoming Championship game.
A long-time Haven supporter has paid £1,000 for the players’ coach going to Bradford tomorrow.
A Gofundme page has been set up and the 200Club has taken off.
A club statement this morning said: “It’s tremendous what the fans are doing. Across the whole rugby league family donations are coming in and we would like to go on record as thanking the loyal band of supporters who are helping us and the club will keep them informed of the current ongoing situation.”
Whitehaven currently have eight matches to play but only three of them at home, and they desperately want four-figure gates for those fixtures at the Ortus REC.
They play Doncaster on August 18; entertain York on September 1 and close out the season on September 29 against Halifax.
After Bradford on Sunday they still have to visit Dewsbury, Wakefield, Batley and Barrow.
