Kendal Town ended Blyth Town’s winning start to the season when they took home a point from the North East.
After a classic game of two halves it finished 1-1, and overall a fair scoreline from what had unfolded.
Kendal had dominated the first-half and deservedly led at the break from a goal by James Bailey.
But Blyth, who had won their previous three games after promotion from Division Two, posed much more of a threat in the second half.
Adam Johnson levelled four minutes into the second-half which gave a different complexion to the contest.
Kendal manager Jimmy Marshall was pleased with a point against a strong Blyth side.
“As a management team we have identified one of the problems this season has been us making slow starts away from home.
“I asked the lads for a quicker response and said I need 7 or 8 out of 10 performances from them.
“I’m pleased to say that I got that from them all and the lads who came on from the bench also affected the game. Blyth have some very good players and I think they were surprised with how we went at them in the first half,” he said.
Marshall believes his side “are warming to the League” and getting to terms with what it’s about.
He is looking forward to Tuesday’s county derby against Carlisle City at Parkside Road.
It’s 15th (Kendal) against 11th (City) with two points between the two Cumbrian clubs.
