Carlisle City ended a three-match losing run with a well-earned 2-1 win at Northallerton in Northern League Division One.
The home side had drawn two of their previous three League games while City had not won since the opening game of the season at Tow Law.
City had made a great start with a goal on nine minutes from Jordan Irving but the hosts were level two minutes later through James Harwood.
They had a number of good opportunities to regain the lead after that but it wasn’t until the 66th minute that they got back in front with a thundering finish from Kieron Blair.
Northallerton’s cause wasn’t helped four minutes later when Leo Myers was sent off and City could have extended their lead before the end, but were pleased to get back to winning ways.
It sets them up for Tuesday night’s first county League derby of the season in the Northern League when they travel to Kendal Town.
To hear what Dan Kirkup thought of yesterday’s win you can listen below, when he also reveals two new signings – and a third to be sorted out shortly.
