University of Cumbria advice for students ahead of A-level results day

On the eve of A-level results day 2024, University of Cumbria is urging students not to worry as its teams are on hand to help.

Trained staff and students are manning a University of Cumbria clearing call centre that can be contacted via a dedicated hotline – 0808 1787 373.

Applications can also be made online at www.cumbria.ac.uk/clearing.

Clearing is an annual process that sees students matched with available university places at institutions across the country, including at the University of Cumbria’s campuses in Ambleside, Carlisle, Lancaster and London.

Clearing opened this year on July 5 and will run until October 21, with the process stepping up a gear from when A-level results are published.

University of Cumbria recruitment teams understand there are many reasons why students seek a place this way. They can include:

students who have yet to apply to university but are interested in starting a programme this autumn;
those who did not receive any offers on their original UCAS application;
those who do not meet the entry requirements for the conditional offers they’ve received ahead of A-level results day;
students who have changed their mind about their original course or university and wish to find an alternative; and
those who have achieved better grades than predicted.

University of Cumbria’s dean for student success Signy Henderson, said: “Whatever your individual circumstances may be, our knowledgeable team of staff and students can provide tailored advice and guidance.

“We appreciate that A-level results day can be a stressful time, so we encourage any students with questions to give us a call or get in touch. We can discuss your situation and talk through the possibilities that are open to you. It is important to remember options are always available.

Before making contact, students are advised that they will need:

Your results, including any A Levels, BTECs, or equivalent qualifications you have. Keep your GCSE results on hand too as details may be requested;
Your UCAS ID number (if you’ve already applied via UCAS); and
Your contact information.
