Carlisle United are said to be pursuing a deal for Rangers’ attacking midfielder Alex Lowry.
Football Insider has reported that Paul Simpson is looking to sign the 21-year-old before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Along with Adam Devine and Ianis Hagi, Scottish youth international Lowry was told to find a new club this summer.
Lowry has not been a part of the first team at Ibrox so far in the 2024-25 campaign and has instead played with the B team.
He scored a brace from the left wing in a 3-2 win over Clyde FC in the Scottish Challenge Cup earlier this month, on August 14.
He has played nine times for Rangers first team but has not figured since 2022.
Lowry spent the first half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Hearts, who cut his spell at the club short earlier this year when he was injured.
He notched one goal and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Edinburgh side.
A back injury kept him out for the remainder of the season.
Lowry is under contract at Ibrox until the end of this season.
Carlisle have lost two of their first three League Two matches and Simpson is extra keen to bring in a new face before the deadline.
