Workington Comets take on the Poole Pirates in the second leg of the BSN Series semi-final at Northside this afternoon.
The Comets will use Berwick’s Jye Etheridge in place of Vissing, who is progressing well after a hand and shoulder injury sustained at Northside a few weeks ago.
They will also track a regular guest for them this season in Redcar’s Jason Edwards who rides in place of Zischke.
It as almost two weeks ago when the Comets went down 59-31 to the Pirates in the first leg in Dorset, so the Comets have a mammoth task on their hands clawing back a 28-point aggregate deficit in the tie.
The Comets go into the meeting after an unexpected few week halt to their schedule with last Sunday’s Championship match against Plymouth (now scheduled for September 7) postponed due to the bad weather.
Poole’s only change will be at number seven for Vinnie Foord, so Redcar’s Ben Trigger will come in for the injured young Brit.
Workington’s Paul; Starke guested at number even for the Pirates last night and contributed to the 50-40 win at Edinburgh with six points and two bonus. West Cumbrian star Richard Lawson also scored 11.
Troy Batchelor took another guest ride, this time for Edinburgh, and he scored six points from his four rides – recording everything in a first, second, third and a last.
Comets team boss James Denham knows the task is a huge one but insists his team are prepared.
“28 points is obviously a huge amount to claw back, ideally we would’ve liked the away leg score a bit tighter but 28 points isn’t impossible. It’s speedway and anything can happen over 15 heats.”
He said: “Most of our lads have been riding often enough to keep race fit with Cookie having some great rides in the Premiership for Leicester lately and Batch also picking up some rides in the Premiership with some guest bookings.
“As well as that Antti is going good at reserve for Belle Vue as well so it keeps us sharp, which is what we need for Saturday to make sure we hit them hard from the off.”
