Whisper it, the penny might have dropped with Kendal Town in their efforts to adjust to the Northern League.
The Mintcakes followed up Tuesday’s remarkable 8-1 win at Penrith with a 1-0 victory at West Auckland – which despite the score-line was probably as good as mid-week.
Josh Winder came up with the only goal of the game after 83 minutes to send Jimmy Marshall’s side home with all three points.
It was a perfect counter attack led by Ryan Winder who drove at the home defence before playing in his brother and he finished well.
Manager Marshall said: “I wouldn’t say it was a better result than Tuesday because it was a different type of game and the lads have done really well to win it against a very good West Auckland side.
“We had to make three changes and I said to the lads, give me a selection headache for Tuesday when we are at home toTow Law.
“Josh, in particular, has been a bit unlucky to be on the bench again but he’s come on and scored another crucial goal for us.
“We’ve said from day one it’s a squad game and I’m really pleased with all the lads who’ve contributed when asked.”
That win, following Tuesday’s victory, takes Kendal up to 14th with games in hand of the majority of the teams above them.
Tuesday’s visitors Tow Law Town are bottom, having lost all nine games so far.
