Part of a Whitehaven road has been closed after a sinkhole appeared.
An emergency road closure is in place on Lower Queen Street in Whitehaven due to a sinkhole in the carriageway near the former Whitehaven News office, which is currently being revamped for Whitehaven Town Council.
As a result, the one-way system from Roper Street to Market Place has been revoked, making Lower Queen Street two-way for access only.
A Cumberland Highways team will be on site this morning to investigate the cause and begin repairs.
Pedestrian access and dismounted cyclist access remain available.
