Cumbria’s NCCA NVPlay One Day Trophy semi-final will be played at Fitz Park, Keswick on Sunday, June 28 against Cheshire.
This will be the second time the teams have faced off at Keswick this season, with Cumbria coming out on top last time by six wickets, after a rain affected encounter.
But before then Cumbria’s attention turns to the T20 Cup which resumes on Sunday with a visit to the Raymond Denham Cricket Oval at Sandair, Cockermouth where Shropshire are the visitors.
It will be the first county game at Sandair since 2022.
The two defeats against Northumberland at the end of May leave Cumbria at the foot of their T20 Group (top 3 to qualify):
- Staffordshire 5
- Northumberland 5
- Shropshire 4
- Cheshire 2
- Cumbria 0
Cumbria now face Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire in their remaining T20 Group games all sides who they have beaten this year already but in the longer 50 over format.
In previous years the majority of T20 games between Cumbria and Shropshire have been lost to the weather (four of six have been abandoned) but last year the County travelled South to Telford and won both games.
This year Shropshire have played Cheshire and Staffordshire losing the first and winning the second game against both.
Their victories have been largely based on runs scored by Sahal Malvernkar, Tom Fell and Joe Johnson at the top of the order all scoring at a strike rate of over 120.
Leading wicket takers have been Ben Roberts and Ollie Smith.
This weekend Cumbria will be giving a debut to 17-year-old wicket-keeper Harry Temperton as Sam Bates is unavailable and Drew Postlethwaite is still on the sidelines recovering from an injury. Matthew Sempill captains the side at his home ground.
