Maryport and Wath Brow A will have to play off for the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland League Premier Division title.
Maryport’s thrilling 26-24 win over their rivals at the Athletic Ground meant they finished joint top.
Because of teams not fulfilling certain fixtures it was agreed at the start of the season that the title would therefore not be decided by points difference.
So it means another head-to-head on Saturday at a venue still to be announced. It will be either Seaton or Hensingham and decided by a toss of the coin tonight.
The Hornets had established an 18-8 lead at half-time but the home side fought back and in a tense finish just had enough to see them over the line.
The Maryport tries were scored by Scott Atherton (2), man of the match Carl Steele, Atlee Skillen and Ethan Harris. Steve Stoddart kicked three goals.

The Brow tries were scored by Brad White, Tom Clarke Luke Davison and Greg Rooney. There were four goals from their man of the match Rooney.
Winning coach Mark Foster said: “It was obviously pleasing to get the win and we look forward to the decider at the week-end.
“The game was delayed for nearly half an hour in the first half because of a bad injury to a Wath Brow player and we had to wait for the ambulance.
“On behalf of myself and the Maryport we’d like to wish the Brow player a quick recovery, and also best wishes to another of their lads who also had to go off.
“We all love our rugby league but at the end of the day the result doesn’t really matter when lads pick up nasty injuries and we wish them both all the best.”
Wath Brow coach Paul Farrell said: “We played some good rugby in the first-half to lead 18-8.
“Unfortunately we gave away too much field position to Maryport and they capitalised, so in many ways it was a game of two halves.
“It was a very competitive game which I am sure would be good for the spectators.
“The two lads who were injured are fine. Jenson went to hospital for X-rays and no fractures, while Jack’s was a concussion and he was out with the lads on Saturday night.”

Meanwhile Kells A claimed a place in the top four play-offs when they won 26-0 at Lowca.
Tries from Daniel Starkie (2), Clarke Chambers and Mason Lewthwaite were accompanied by three goals by Ross Gainford.
Jonathan Wignall, the Kells coach said: “It was a tough game against a youthful Lowca side who were extremely enthusiastic in poor conditions.

“We pulled another squad together and managed to play well in the very windy conditions.
“This season we have used 62 players for Kells A and for this one Kevin Agnew, who hasn’t played for ten years was an absolute stand-out.”

In Division One Aspatria enjoyed a Aspatria 40-12 home win against Distington A.
That represented a substantial turnaround as Distington had enjoyed a 12-10 lead at half-time.
The Aspatria tries came from Mark Irwin (3), Jordan Moore, Bobby Benson, Stuart Creighton, Brad Thomson and Ben Tootill. Man of the match Tootill kicked four goals.
The two Distington tries were scored by man of the match Darrien Porter and converted by Jaiden Hewer.
Aspatria chairman Mark Ridley said: “Credit to Distington for travelling with 15 men and giving us a good game.
“It didn’t really turn until the second-half when the evergreen Mark Irwin scored a quick hat-trick of tries.
“That means we have finished top of Division One and have a home game against Hensingham A in the play-off semi-final.”
Hensingham A were 40-24 winners at Askam to seal their play-off place.
They had trailed 18-16 at half-time but pulled away in the second-half to win comfortably.
The Hensingham tries were scored by Logan McAvoy (2), Dean Bragg, Dylan Bragg, Danny Stables, Craig McAvoy and Olly Dunn. Dylan Bragg kicked six goals.
The Askam tries came from Dale Lambton (2), Luke McIntee, Lewis Stables and Rob Cockayne. Stables kicked two goals.
Man of the match for Askam was Luke Bolton with the Hensingham award going to Theo Crowe.
That didn’t knock Askam out of the top four play-offs as they will face Distington A.
Chris Broadley the Askam player coach said: “We did well in the first-half but unfortunately Hensingham pulled away in the second-half.
“We are now looking forward to the play-off semi-final and delighted that we have a home game.”
In a game between the two sides who miss out on the play-offs, Ellenborough A beat Flimby 44-18.The Elbra tries came from Kevin Hoban (3), Danny Penman (2), Joe Appleby (2) and man of the match Andy Ostle. Gary Taylor kicked six goals.
For Flimby there were tries for man of the match Nathan Kirkbride (2) and Darren Pape with three goals by Dan Weir.
