Carlisle City are the first team through to the second round of the Fred Conway County Cup when they beat Cockermouth 5-0 last night.
But the County League side felt [particularly well-pleased with their first-half performance as they reached half-time all-square.
They had set-off particularly well, playing the game at a brisk tempo, getting in behind City on two occasions without being able to finish.
City had used the game to give minutes to members of the squad short of minutes so far this season and they made changes at half-time.
Immediately on the restart Jake Simpson fired in the opening goal from the edge of the area, and that was quickly followed by a second from a similar strike by Romeo Park.
A Simpson free-kick earned him his second and City’s third and then the home side finished-off with two good team goals which were scored by Kieran Blair and Liam Lightfoot.
City now have a break until a week on Saturday and the following Tuesday – but they are massive home games against two of the sides in the top five – West Auckland and Redcar Athletic.
