The A7 between Harker and Blackford will be closed overnight for almost two weeks for resurfacing.
Contractor Connect Roads will start work on Sunday, September 22, and it is scheduled to finish on Saturday, October 5, weather permitting.
The road will be closed from 7pm to 6am and the A7 will be closed from Harker to Blackford Church, with a diversion route in place.
Traffic marshals will be stationed at closure points to escort residents and businesses through the work site.
Depending on site activities, there may be a short wait until it is safe to be escorted through, said Cumberland Council, which is co-ordinating the work. Access will be maintained for emergency services during the work.
