Whitehaven made a brilliant start at Blackpool Wren Rovers in their latest West Lancashire League fixture.
They were 3-0 ahead inside 25 minutes, were still three clear at half-time but in the end had to settle for a point from a 3-3 draw.
Travis Fyfe fired them ahead after 12 minutes; Robbie Swinburne double the advantage four minutes later and Dan Hill, on dual registration from Carlisle City, scored the third after 25 minutes.
But Wren Rovers have the second leading goal-scorer in the League, Ric Seear, who took his tally to 15 after sparking the home side’s recovery by creating the first goal for Ben Rollins on 57 minutes.
Seear notched the second goal on 62 minutes and continued to cause problems for Whitehaven until Tarren Moxon grabbed an 82nd minute equaliser.
Whitehaven had to withstand a lot of pressure in the second-half and although disappointing to lose a three goal advantage would have settled for a point before a ball was kicked.
That was their first point in five away games and look forward to a home game next Saturday against Eagley, the side immediately above them in the table – a point better off from a game more.
