Carlisle City will start their FA Vase adventure with a trip to Guisborough Town on Saturday, October 19.
City sit eighth in the Northern League table and Guisborough are two places lower, a point less but also from a game fewer.
The winners of each first round proper tie will pick up £825 with the losers receiving £250.
Last season, under manager Jim Nichols, City reached the third round proper before losiong 4-0 to Charnock Richard, the side who put together a remarkable end-of-season charge to pip Kendal Town for a play-off place in the North West Counties Premier Division.
That was then furthest the club had been in the competition and new boss Dan Kirkup would at least like to equal that achievement this time round.
He said: “Well of course I’d prefer a home draw but we have played Guisborough already and drew 1-1 at home.
“I thought they didn’t look like the Guisborough of old and I see they later sacked their manager so it will be interesting to see what difference he has made.
“We have some important League games before then, however, with two really big home fixtures coming up against top sides. We entertain West Auckland on Saturday and then have Redcar Athletic on the Tuesday.”
Padiham, who knocked out Penrith on Saturday, have been drawn at home to Horden Community Welfare, who eliminated Kendal Town.
The Northern part of the draw is:
Wombwell Town v Handsworth; West Didsbury & Chorlton v Stockport Town; Guisborough Town v Carlisle City; Crook Town v Newcastle University; Prudhoe Youth v Redcar Athletic; Ramsbottom United v Euxton Villa; Yorkshire Amateur v New Mills; Atherton LR v Colne; Daisy Hill v Ashton Town; Padiham v Horden Community Welfare; Ashville v Marske United; Northallerton Town v Campion; Glossop North End v Sandbach United; Chadderton v Bury; Darwen v Harrogate Railway Athletic; Beverley Town v Abbey Hey; Ryton & Crawcrook Albion v Barnoldswick Town; Staveley MW v Irlam; Albion Sports v Boro Rangers; Jarrow v FC Hartlepool; Winsford United v AFC Liverpool; Wakefield v North Shields.
