Kendal Town manager Jimmy Marshall is delighted he’s got Tom Kilifin back at the club on dual registration from Lancaster City.
Marshall admitted he was really disappointed when Kilifin left at the start of last season to join Bury after he had been the top scorer in the North West Counties for the Mintcakes.
“I was disappointed again when he left Bury and didn’t come back. But we have him back now and we got 30 minutes into him on Saturday.
“He’s a great lad, a fine goal scorer and I hope to give him plenty of game time,” said Marshall.
Kilifin had been unable to force himself into the Lancaster side and has been short of game time. City manager Chris Willcock hopes he can come back and challenge for a place when he’s up to speed and match fit..
Marshall is looking ahead to Wednesday night when he takes his Kendal side to Crook Town on the back of two good home wins – scoring six times with just one against.
The Mintcakes are up to sixth with matches in hand of all the teams ahead of them and they face a Crook side whose game on Saturday with West Allotment Celtic was abandoned. A Celtic player received a serious head injury and was taken to hospital with Crook 3-0 ahead at the time.
Kendal beat Shildon 3-0 on Saturday but Marshall predicts they will be up there towards the play-offs at the end of the season.
“It might sound daft looking at the scoreline but I actually think they were the best team we’ve played and we really had to work hard against them. Our goalkeeper Chris Cheetham made several really good saves so deserved his clean sheet.
“I thought they were a very good side and I am sure they are going to be challenging by the end of the season,” said the Kendal boss.
