Barrow slipped out of the automatic promotion places in League Two after their 1-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers last night.
It was the first win in four games for Donny who are now level on points with the Bluebirds as they lie fourth and fifth in the table.
Rovers dominated for most of the game as Barrow looked a pale shadow of the side which had risen to the top of the table – but have now suffered two successive defeats.
Veteran striker Billy Sharp was closest to breaking the deadlock when he hit the bar with a fierce shot midway through the first half.
However, although they were in charge, Doncaster were unable to create really good chances as Barrow, if nothing else, defended well.
The evergreen Sharp was the likeliest for Doncaster and he had one effort deflected into the side netting while on another occasion a great block by Chris Stokes prevented a certain goal with his effort from 15 yards.
Barrow enjoyed their best spell of the game midway through the second-half when Chris Popov wasn’t far away with a well-struck effort which whistled just wide.
It was looking all over a 0-0 when Doncaster finally got their noses in front on 81 minutes when Harry Clifton steered home a cross by Jamie Sterry from eight yards.
