A Carlisle man has been banned from stores in the city for two years after shoplifting offences.
Daniel McGill, 33, of Melbourne Road, Carlisle, has had a criminal behaviour order issued against him, thanks to work by Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team.
It was secured at Carlisle Magistrates Court yesterday, Wednesday October 2.
McGill must not:
- Enter any premises part of the Carlisle Shopwatch and Retailers Against Crime scheme
- Enter any shops on S. Nicholas Gate Retail Park, London Road, Carlisle
- Enter Sainsbury’s, Brewery Lane, Penrith
McGill was sentenced to 22 weeks in jail for shoplifting on March 28, April 1, April 5, May 23 and September 30 and racially aggravated public order offence committed on March 11.
Community beat officer PC Alice Hannah said: “This order will prevent McGill from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.
“The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.”
Anyone who witnesses Daniel McGill breaching the terms of the order should contact the police.
