A Barrow women’s charity has had a boost from B&Q.
Workers from the DIY chain offered their expertise, support and products to Women’s Community Matters, to help improve vital spaces used by the charity and the people it supports.
The team volunteered to spruce up the volunteer room and small library at the centre on Abbey Road with a fresh coat of paint, new lighting and shelving.
Women’s Community Matters is a centre offering an holistic service to women and their families who need support for a range of issues.
A Women’s Community Matters spokesman said: “We are delighted to have had the team from B&Q support us by giving up their time to improve our spaces.
“They have transformed the spaces into warm and welcoming environments, creating an atmosphere of comfort. A huge thank you to B&Q and their colleagues for making this happen. It was great to have them in our centre with their great attitude and cheery smiles.”
It was part of B&Q’s wider Community Days programme, where a group of workers from B&Q stores support the local community by improving a community space to help make a positive difference.
