Carlisle United have confirmed hat third-year scholar Sam Hetherington is returning to Workington Reds on loan.

Hetherington spent time at loan last season under Danny Grainger and was one of the bright lights in a disappointing finish to the season.

He spent time with Reds alongside Aran Fitzpatrick and Jake Allan who are both already with the Reds again on loan.

Carlisle have said that Hetherington will be with the Reds until December 31.

The young midfielder has made two first team appearances for United this season, both in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

The Carlisle trio join Preston midfielder Kaedyn Kamara on loan while the two young defenders who had briefly been on loan from Gateshead – Ben Fell and Ben Williams have already returned to the north east club.

Mark Fell, the Workington manager said: “Sam is another good young player joining us for a particularly busy part of the season leading up to the New Year.”
