Jack Kellett, who made an eye-catching debut for Whitehaven in the final game of the season, has agreed a permanent deal at the Ortus Rec.
Kellett, 22, is stepping up to League One from from Whitehaven-based National Conference League side Hensingham.
Kellett got the call to help-out a depleted Whitehaven squad by interim coach Kyle Amor for the final Championship game against Halifax Panthers.
Unlucky to have a try ruled out he looked far from out of place and earned the man of the match award.
Kellett had become an integral part of the Hensingham squad which won promotion from Division Three of the National Conference League this season under the guidance of former Haven and Workington forward Kris Coward.
He scored six tries in 17 appearances as Hensingham won promotion, finishing second in the table.
Speaking about signing the former England Community Under 23 Lions cap new Whitehaven head coach Anthony Murray said: “Jack impressed in his debut against Halifax and proved given the opportunity what he could do against a championship side.
Jack loved playing in front of the Haven faithful and I’m sure over time with performances like he showed he could become a crowd favourite.”
Whitehaven have said they would like to thank all at Hensingham for their support to Jack in his initial step up to the professional game last season and now the permanent move ahead of the 2025 season.
